2 Kings 4:8-37

Gehazi was sent ahead with instructions to run to the boy on a mission that was so urgent that he was not to greet anyone along the way. But he could not help the child.

When Elisha arrived he first prayed to the Lord before stretching himself out over the body of the dead child. Life returned to the boy, whom Elisha returned to his overjoyed mother (2 Kings 4:31-37). This life was not the resurrection life, but an ordinary life that would ultimately end in death.

*19/04/2026* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea VII Exodus 14:1-31 God uses the east wind to drive back the water so that the Israelites can cross the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:21-22 Ominously for the Egyptians, this is the same wind that had brought the avery of locusts at the time of the eighth plague (Exodus 10:13). At the end of the plague, God had hurled the locusts into the Red Sea so that ‘not a locust was left’ according to Exodus 10:19. *26/04/2026* *ANOINTING HEALING AND COMMUNION SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Elijah 1 Kings 17-18; 2 Kings 1 ELIJAH’S PROPHECY TO AHAB 1 Kings 17:1-6 Like most of the other prophets, Elijah simply appears, without any introduction. He must, however, have already been well known in Israel at the time he appeared to announce the judgment of God for the sins of Ahab and Israel (1 Kings 17:1). The judgment was that there would be no rain or dew for some years as a punishment for the sins mentioned in the previous verses. Elijah must not be thought of as similar to African rainmakers. Stopping or making rain was not his main work.
