He gave two fundamental reasons, both expressed in anthropomorphic language, that is, language that is associated with our human experience. The first reason is that God has seen, heard and reacted with concern to the sufferings of his people at the hands of their Egyptian oppressors. He is told not to come any closer and take off his sandals as a sign of humility and worship. Exodus 3:5 Joshua 5:15 God then introduces himself as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, and thus the father of Israel. Exodus 3:6 Exodus 3:15-16 Moses needs to know, exactly which god is speaking. He had been raised in a polytheistic court and would inevitably have been familiar with the many Egyptian gods, so there is nothing redundant or unnecessary about this repetition. Moreover, this identification is the basis on which Moses will be instructed to make his appeal to the people in Exodus 3:15-16. *©️2026* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ™...

But the striking way in which God manifests himself here demonstrates that he would direct everything and that he would do so perfectly without being subject to human constraints. God is going to demonstrate his omnipotence. Once Moses’ curiosity attracts him to the bush, God calls him twice by name from within the bush (Exodus 3:4a). The call is specific and insistent. Moses responds with *Here I am* (Exodus 3:4b). These words are an indication of openness to hear and obey God, and are spoken elsewhere in the Bible by Abraham (Genesis 22:11), Jacob (Genesis 46:2) and Samuel ( 1 Samuel 3:4). *©️2026* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ™️* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2...

Later, God would reveal himself to Moses again in the same location and give him his law (Exodus 19:20; 24:13-18). Infact, God promised Moses such a meeting in Exodus 3:12. Here God attracts Moses’ attention by using a strange sight - a bush that burns without burning up (Exodus 3:2-3). The fire is said to represent the angel of the Lord, that is, the angelic form in which God at times reveals himself to humans (Exodus 3:4; Genesis 16:9). In Exodus 19:18, fire will again symbolize the presence of God. *Tithes & Offering* Genesis 14:18-20 Account name:  *The Ecumenican Church* Account number: 2280020397 Banker: *Eco Bank Nig. Ltd...

*25/02/2026* *40 DAYS FASTING AND PRAYERS* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Burning bush Exodus 3:1-10 Moses spent forty years in the Sinai desert, working as a shepherd for his father-in-law, before God called him to fulfill his mission (Exodus 3:1). But those years were not wasted, for he would need his knowledge of the desert when the time came to lead his people through it. Then one day, as he was going about his normal business, God called him. The description of this call is brief, but we are given the essential information: the identity of the one who calls and what Moses is to do. This information is essential not only for understanding the story of Moses, but also for our understanding of the character of God himself. *©️2026* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria™️* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.j...

God’s miracles glorify Him yet some will not believe II

Even those who admired Jesus and wanted him to be their nationalistic Messiah were not prepared to believe his message of a dying Son of Man. *they did not believe:* Their unbelief is startling. However Jesus’ predicted suffering and death did not fit the people’s idea of the Messiah. *©️2026* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ™️* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

God’s miracles glorify Him yet some will not believe

*18/02/2026* *40 DAYS FASTING AND PRAYERS* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  God’s miracles glorify Him yet some will not believe  John 12:37 Jesus is about to end his public ministry and focus on his final instructions to his twelve disciples. Before he does so, John presents a brief report on the state of Jesus’ mission. The Jews had seen or heard of the many signs that Jesus had done in Judea and Galilee. John has not recorded all of the signs according to John 20:30 and John 2:23, but he has given details of seven of them: the changing of water into wine, the healing of a royal official’s son, the healing of a man who had been sick for thirty-eight years, the feeding of more than five thousand people, the walking on water, the healing of the man who was born blind and the raising of Lazarus. Yet despite all these signs, the Jews as a group in general still...
