ELIJAH TO ZAREPHATH II

*06/05/2026* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Elijah 1 Kings 17-18; 2 Kings 1 ELIJAH TO ZAREPHATH II 1 Kings 17:7-24 On arriving at Zarephath, Elijah met a widow near the town gate. Just as Eliezer had asked Rebecca for a drink outside the town of Nahor (Genesis 24:17), so Elijah requested a drink from the widow, as well as something to eat (Exodus 17:10-11). The widow told him of her poverty and that she and her son were down to the last of their food. But the prophet reassured her, *Don’t be afraid* and promised that the Lord would sustain her till the end of the drought (Exodus 17:12-14). The widow did as she was told. She believed the word of God and was obedient to it (Exodus 17:15-16). Many years later, Jesus would mention her as an example of someone with faith (Luke 4:26). Her supply of oil and flour lasted to the end of the famine. *©️...

There may have been more water in that region because it was near the sea, but the famine had spread from Israel to other lands. Grains was in short supply throughout the region. As before, Elijah was staying in a foreign country, outside Ahab’s territory. But the Lord has people who do his will in the most unexpected places. *Tithes & Offering* Genesis 14:18-20 Account name:  *The Ecumenican Church* Account number: 2280020397 Banker: *Eco Bank Nig. ELIJAH’S PROPHECY TO AHAB II

*29/04/2006* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Elijah 1 Kings 17-18; 2 Kings 1 ELIJAH’S PROPHECY TO AHAB II 1 Kings 17:1-6 The closing words of Elijah’s prophecy, *Except at my word* left some hope that if the king and the people repented, the situation might change. But they did not, and Elijah had to leave and settle east of the Jordan River (1 Kings 17:2-3). By doing this he escaped death with the other prophets (1 Kings 18:4; 19:10) and had a supply of water from the Brook Kerith, which continued to flow for sometime despite drought. The Lord took charge of meeting his need for food (1 Kings 17:4-6). *©️2026* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ™️* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

ELIJAH’S PROPHECY TO AHAB

*26/04/2026* *ANOINTING HEALING AND COMMUNION SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Elijah 1 Kings 17-18; 2 Kings 1 ELIJAH’S PROPHECY TO AHAB 1 Kings 17:1-6 Like most of the other prophets, Elijah simply appears, without any introduction. He must, however, have already been well known in Israel at the time he appeared to announce the judgment of God for the sins of Ahab and Israel (1 Kings 17:1). The judgment was that there would be no rain or dew for some years as a punishment for the sins mentioned in the previous verses. Elijah must not be thought of as similar to African rainmakers. Stopping or making rain was not his main work. Rather, *as a true prophet, Elijah could see or hear what the Lord was planning to do*.  James says that the rains stopped because the prophet prayed in faith (James 5:17-18). *©️2026* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ™️* WhatsApp/...

Red Sea VIII

*22/04/2026* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea VIII Exodus 14:1-31 The Egyptian army follows the fleeing Israelites into the sea, and there God throws them into confusion (Exodus 14:23-24). He causes them to have problems with their chariot wheels, which either come off or become jammed in some way, with the result that the chariots are out of commission and can not be used either for pursuit or for flight (Exodus 14:25a). And flight becomes uppermost in the Egyptians’ minds, for in a flash of enlightenment, they realize that it is the Lord who is fighting against them (Exodus 14:25b). Pharaoh had claimed not to know the Lord (Exodus 5:2), but now all his soldiers proclaim him, using the name God had revealed to Moses, ‘Yahweh’, translated ‘the Lord’. But their recognition comes too late to save them, and all are engulfed in the returnin...

*19/04/2026* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea VII Exodus 14:1-31 God uses the east wind to drive back the water so that the Israelites can cross the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:21-22 Ominously for the Egyptians, this is the same wind that had brought the avery of locusts at the time of the eighth plague (Exodus 10:13). At the end of the plague, God had hurled the locusts into the Red Sea so that ‘not a locust was left’ according to Exodus 10:19. The same fate awaits the Egyptian army, for not one of them will survive (Exodus 14:28). *©️2026* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ™️* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

Red Sea VI

*15/04/2026* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea VI Exodus 14:1-31 We are now told that the cloud that has been leading the people is a covering for the angel of God (or, as it could also be translated, ‘the messenger of God’). This messenger has already been encountered in Exodus 3:2, when he appeared to Moses in the burning bush. The angel now moves from his position in front of the people to take up a position behind them, where the cloud that accompanies him will act as a screen between them and the Egyptians and keep this army in check all night.
