1 Kings 18:16-46

Elijah told Ahab to bring people from all over Israel as well as the prophets of Baal and of Asherah to a meeting on Mount Carmel, a high mountain overlooking the Mediterranean Sea (1 Kings 18:20). The King may have been angry with the prophet, but he respected the power the Lord had given him and obeyed the prophet’s instructions and summoned the prophets and the people.

*19/04/2026* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea VII Exodus 14:1-31 God uses the east wind to drive back the water so that the Israelites can cross the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:21-22 Ominously for the Egyptians, this is the same wind that had brought the avery of locusts at the time of the eighth plague (Exodus 10:13). At the end of the plague, God had hurled the locusts into the Red Sea so that ‘not a locust was left’ according to Exodus 10:19. God himself will later say these same words to the people (Exodus 20:20). They can also be translated as‘stand up straight’ or ‘stay where you are!
