He simply sent out a messenger telling Naaman to go to the Jordan River and wash himself seven times (2 Kings 5:9-10). Naaman was an important man and was used to being treated with great respect, so he was angry about receiving so little care and attention. After all, he reasoned, if all that was needed to heal him was river water, he could bathe in the bigger rivers in Damascus (2 Kings 5:11-12). We,too, often want to design God’s salvation to suit us.
