Exodus 14:1-31

God uses the east wind to drive back the water so that the Israelites can cross the sea on dry ground.

Exodus 14:21-22

Ominously for the Egyptians, this is the same wind that had brought the avery of locusts at the time of the eighth plague (Exodus 10:13). At the end of the plague, God had hurled the locusts into the Red Sea so that ‘not a locust was left’ according to Exodus 10:19.

The same fate awaits the Egyptian army, for not one of them will survive (Exodus 14:28).

 *01/06/2025* *THANKSGIVING SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* INTRODUCTION  - The creation of the earth and the near heavens  Genesis 1:1-31 The rest of the chapter is then seen as an expression on the summary of Genesis 1:1. However, it is also possible that those words outline the first step in creation, with the words *in the beginning* being equivalent to "first". The idea then would be that the first thing God did was to create the raw shell ( heaven and earth) and then for six days he filled that shell with content. He did not create the whole universe as a finished product in one grand gesture, but worked to create it. *07/12/2025* *THANKSGIVING SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God provides for the needs of all V Psalms 23:1-6; 147:1-9 1 Peter 5:6-7 Matthew 5:46; 6:25-34 Acts 14:17 The use of both *mercy* and *goodness* to describe God’s loyal love intensifies the meaning of the two words. What is described in verse 5 is God’s over abundant mercy - love that is in no way deserved. The Hebrew verb *follows* describes an animal in pursuit. When the Lord is our Shepherd, instead of being stalked by wild beasts we are pursued by the loving care of the Lord. God’s promise for the Israelites was not just for the enjoyment of this life in the land of promise (Psalms 6:1-3); it was also for the full enjoyment of the life to come in His blessed presence.
