Her husband was puzzled about why she was looking for Elisha on that day, seeing it’s not the new moon or the Sabbath - possibly the only two occasions on which Elisha could be found at home. But the wife insisted on going (2 Kings 4:23-24). It is strange that it was the mother and not the father who set out on this journey. But it may be that as a mother she felt more for her child than the father did. He may already have accepted his death, whereas the mother was still in denial. However, there are also other possibilities. The wife may not even have told her husband about what had happened, believing that if she could get to the prophet, he could still heal her son. Alternatively, the description of the husband as old in 2 Kings 4:14 may suggests that he was far older than his wife and less able to stand up to a long and hurried journey than his young wife. *Whatever the case, she had faith and her faith moved her to action*
