*Elisha and the rebellion of Moab*

2 kings 3:1-27

Joram saw the water shortage as the Lord’s doing, setting them up for defeat by Moab (2 kings 3:10). But once again, as before the attack on Ramoth Gilead, Jehoshaphat advised that they consult the Lord (2 kings 3:11).

Jehoshaphat had not forgotten the covenant Lord of Israel. He used this opportunity to witness to the God of the ancestors of the united Israel.

Joram had little choice but to agree, particularly when it was pointed out that Elisha, who had been Elijah’s servant, was nearby.

Jehoshaphat greeted this news with enthusiasm: *The word of the Lord is with him* (2 kings 3:12). He knew that Elisha would tell them the real word of God.

*19/04/2026* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea VII Exodus 14:1-31 God uses the east wind to drive back the water so that the Israelites can cross the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:21-22 Ominously for the Egyptians, this is the same wind that had brought the avery of locusts at the time of the eighth plague (Exodus 10:13). At the end of the plague, God had hurled the locusts into the Red Sea so that ‘not a locust was left’ according to Exodus 10:19. *08/04/2026* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea IV Exodus 14:1-31 Rather than becoming indignant at the people’s reaction and lack of faith, Moses tries to calm the people’s fears saying, *Do not be afraid* (Exodus 14:13a). God himself will later say these same words to the people (Exodus 20:20). They can also be translated as‘stand up straight’ or ‘stay where you are!
