1 Kings 18:16-46

Elijah did not head off into the wilderness after this victory, but accompanied the King to Jezreel as a loyal subject. Like Elijah, ministers must leave no doubt that they love the political leaders they criticize. We must hate the evil that they do, but not the person who does it.

Despite the heavy rain, Elijah was able to run to the city ahead of Ahab’s chariot. He got the strength for this gruelling marathon after a dramatic day from the power of the Lord.

*19/04/2026* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God will sometimes overrule the natural order by the miraculous  True Miracles  Red Sea VII Exodus 14:1-31 God uses the east wind to drive back the water so that the Israelites can cross the sea on dry ground. Exodus 14:21-22 Ominously for the Egyptians, this is the same wind that had brought the avery of locusts at the time of the eighth plague (Exodus 10:13). At the end of the plague, God had hurled the locusts into the Red Sea so that ‘not a locust was left’ according to Exodus 10:19. God himself will later say these same words to the people (Exodus 20:20). They can also be translated as‘stand up straight’ or ‘stay where you are!
