Rejoicing and gentleness are difficult during times of anxiety, and so Paul counsels the believers that they should be free from any kind of anxiety (Philippians 4:6).

How? By being people of prayer and presenting everything to God with thanksgiving for the Lord’s mercy and forgiveness.

For a Christian, God is an intimate friend and Lord who is able to help in all circumstances. By praying we allow him to share our burdens.

The result of committing our anxieties to God is protection by the peace of God.

Philippians 4:7

It is absolutely useless. It can take up so much of one’s energy that one is paralyzed and cannot act. We need to recognize that while the necessities of life, like clothes, are important, they are not to become an all-consuming passion.
