Having insisted that they were not gods, the missionaries used the opportunity to explain the gospel once again, attempting to turn the people away from worthless things and to bring them to the living God, who had created all things. They said that this God had allowed a period of ignorance in all the nations - including the missionaries’ nation and the hearers’. But he had not left himself without a witness according to Romans 1:19-23 through *divine provision of rain and fruitful seasons* so that people were satisfied and rejoiced at harvest festivals.

*31/12/2025* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God provides for the needs of all XII Psalms 23:1-6; 147:1-9 1 Peter 5:6-7 Matthew 5:46; 6:25-34 Acts 14:17 Worry does not advance one’s cause at all; it cannot according to Matthew 6:27-28. It is absolutely useless. It can take up so much of one’s energy that one is paralyzed and cannot act. We need to recognize that while the necessities of life, like clothes, are important, they are not to become an all-consuming passion. Solomon’s wardrobe fades into insignificance beside the simple beauty of a flower according to Matthew 6:29. A flower has a very short lifespan, but God fills it with beauty in spite of this. How much more will he provide food and clothes for the creatures who bear his image? (Matthew 6:30-32). *07/12/2025* *THANKSGIVING SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CONTINUING PROVISION AND PRESENCE  - God provides for the needs of all V Psalms 23:1-6; 147:1-9 1 Peter 5:6-7 Matthew 5:46; 6:25-34 Acts 14:17 The use of both *mercy* and *goodness* to describe God’s loyal love intensifies the meaning of the two words. What is described in verse 5 is God’s over abundant mercy - love that is in no way deserved. The Hebrew verb *follows* describes an animal in pursuit. When the Lord is our Shepherd, instead of being stalked by wild beasts we are pursued by the loving care of the Lord. God’s promise for the Israelites was not just for the enjoyment of this life in the land of promise (Psalms 6:1-3); it was also for the full enjoyment of the life to come in His blessed presence.
