- God provides for the needs of all XII

Worry does not advance one’s cause at all; it cannot according to Matthew 6:27-28. It is absolutely useless. It can take up so much of one’s energy that one is paralyzed and cannot act. We need to recognize that while the necessities of life, like clothes, are important, they are not to become an all-consuming passion.

Solomon’s wardrobe fades into insignificance beside the simple beauty of a flower according to Matthew 6:29. A flower has a very short lifespan, but God fills it with beauty in spite of this. How much more will he provide food and clothes for the creatures who bear his image? (Matthew 6:30-32). He knows our needs, and will provide for them (although he may not necessarily give us all that we want). Instead of worrying, we must learn to focus on serving the Lord wholeheartedly, doing our best and leaving the rest to him.

However, it is also possible that those words outline the first step in creation, with the words *in the beginning* being equivalent to "first". This interpretation fits well with the command that follows - to reign over all that God has made. *according to Our likeness:* This draws attention to the preceding figure of speech. Since God is Spirit according to John 4:24, there can be no "image" or "likeness" of Him in the normal sense of these words.
