CREATION 

- Creation is attributed to the Son, the Word IV

John 1:1-3

Some think that John 1:1b should be translated 'and the Word was a god', arguing that in Greek a noun with an article is definite while a noun without an article is indefinite. But this rule does not always apply. At times an article is omitted in order to stress the quality of something. In this particular case, Jesus' status is that of God, but he does not exhaust what God is. If John had said that Jesus was 'the God' here, he would have been leaving out the Father and the Holy Spirit, who are also persons of the Trinity.

 *01/06/2025* *THANKSGIVING SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* INTRODUCTION  - The creation of the earth and the near heavens  Genesis 1:1-31 The rest of the chapter is then seen as an expression on the summary of Genesis 1:1. However, it is also possible that those words outline the first step in creation, with the words *in the beginning* being equivalent to "first". The idea then would be that the first thing God did was to create the raw shell ( heaven and earth) and then for six days he filled that shell with content.
