Isaiah 43:10-13
Revelation 1:8
Christ introduces himself as the Alpha and the Omega according to Revelation 1:8, referring to the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. The meaning is the same as that of 'the First and the Last ' in Revelation 1:17, and 'the Beginning and the End' in Revelation 21:6 and Revelation 22:13.
Only the book of Revelation refers to God, the Lord Jesus Christ, in this way. God wanted us to be encouraged by knowing that God, who knows all things from the beginning to the end, is the absolute source of all creation and history.
*Nothing lies outside him, just as no other letter of the Greek alphabet lay outside the Alpha and Omega*. He is the Lord God of all and is continually present to his people as the Almighty. God is in total control.
Revelation 4:8; 11:17; 15:3; 16:7,14; 19:6,15.
2 Corinthians 6:18
Colossians 1:19
