*WOMAN WITH TWO MITES*

Text:

Luke 21:1-4

There were various places around the temple where people could leave contributions. Thirteen such locations were in the forecourt. The receptacles were made in the shape of trumpets. Each represented a different kind of offering. There was also a treasury room near the court of women. The poor widow contributed two mites, small copper coins which were the smallest currency available.

Jesus contrasted the giving of the rich with the sacrifice of the poor widow.

The widow did not refuse to give even when she needed more to live on. Her devotion to God through her contributions was her first priority.

2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 9:6-9
