THE FIRST NATION

This refers to the Babylonian Empire, personified in Nebuchadnezzar.

The first world-wide empire according to Daniel 2:32 was Babylon.

Daniel 2:38; 7:17

The lion and the eagle are commonly recognized as the King of the beasts and the King of the birds respectively, a fitting description of Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian Empire.
