Exodus 3:14


The One who spoke to Moses declared Himself to be the Eternal One - uncaused and independent. Only the Creator of all things can call Himself the *I AM* in the absolute sense, all other creatures are in debt to Him for their existence. But in addition, God the Creator declares His relationship with the people of Israel. God declares His covenantal relationship with Israel with His name. Many refer to the "I Am" as the covenantal name of God.
