1 Peter 2:4-12 (NKJV)


Topic verse:

*"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light"*

Although we once deserved condemnation because of unbelief

John 3:18,36

Ephesians 2:1-3

We no longer are under the sentence of judgment

Ephesians 2:4-7

Peter reminds believers

1 Peter 1:1

that this earth is not our home. We are foreigners here, traveling to our eternal home, heaven.

The word translated *abstain* literally means "to hold away from one's person". In other words, we must distance ourselves from our own self-indulgent urges.

*Life is not a game but a war to be waged, and that war is a matter of eternal life or death.*

Romans 7:23

James 4:1

*Yet the war is not necessarily fought on a physical, temporal plane, but on a spiritual one*
