2. In secret

Matthew 6:6

Jesus questions the motives of those who pray to impress others. Those who pray with improper motives have their reward-like those who do charitable deeds with improper motives.

Matthew 6:2

*How then should we pray?*

Jesus does not dictate any particular posture when we pray. Nor does he condemn all public prayer. But when such prayer is called for, it should be directed to God, not others. Most of our praying should be in private, since it is an expression of the relationship between the person praying and God, who sees what is done in secret.
