OUTLINE OF A PRAYER GIVEN BY JESUS

*28/08/2024* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Matthew 6:9-13 OUTLINE OF A PRAYER GIVEN BY JESUS Sometimes called the "Lord's prayer" but it was meant to be the "Disciples prayer". To pray in this manner does not mean to pray using only particular words, but to pray in this way. People often reduce this prayer to empty recitation - exactly what the Lord said not to do. (Matthew 6:7) The prayer is composed of six requests. The first three ask for the kingdom to come according to Matthew 6:9,10 and the last three are for God to meet the needs of His people until the kingdom arrives. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

HOW TO PRAY

*25/08/2024* *ANOINTING HEALING AND COMMUNION SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Matthew 6:5-14 HOW TO PRAY 3. Don't keep on babbling like the pagans. Matthew 6:7 Jesus also condemns prayers that babble on and on. Apparently Greek prayers were often lengthy and included numerous titles for the deity being addressed in order to attract his or her attention. But we do not need to summon God's attention. He knows what we are praying about even before we ask him. Nothing is wrong with repeating prayers. Matthew 26:39,42,44. Here Jesus was referring to the empty recitation of words. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

HOW TO PRAY: In secret

*21/08/2024* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Matthew 6:5-14 HOW TO PRAY 2. In secret Matthew 6:6 Jesus questions the motives of those who pray to impress others. Those who pray with improper motives have their reward-like those who do charitable deeds with improper motives. Matthew 6:2 *How then should we pray?* Jesus does not dictate any particular posture when we pray. Nor does he condemn all public prayer. But when such prayer is called for, it should be directed to God, not others. Most of our praying should be in private, since it is an expression of the relationship between the person praying and God, who sees what is done in secret. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

HOW TO PRAY

*18/08/2024* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Matthew 6:5-14 HOW TO PRAY 1. Not to be seen of men. Matthew 6:5 Prayer was an important part of Jewish religious life. Devout Jews prayed three times a day: at dawn, midday, and dusk. Daniel 6:10 Acts 3:1 While we have no historical evidence of ostentatious praying in the street, it is not unlikely that certain people organized their day so that the time of prayer found them on a street corner. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

Proclamation

*14/08/2024* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Genesis 4:26 Philippians 4:6-7 PRAYER IS OFTEN ACCOMPANIED BY 8. Proclamation Psalms 48:1-3 Psalms 18:3,46 Psalms 116:1,2 Great is used often in the Psalms to describe the person of God. Psalms 21:5;77:13;95:3;96:4;145:3;147:5. The city of Jerusalem had a particularly dear place in the heart of God's people. 1 Kings 14:21 The city was holy because of the presence of God in the temple.  The purpose of God's work in Israel was to draw all nations to Himself. Psalms 117:1 For Israel, God's dwelling was the physical city of Jerusalem. The beauty of the city of Jerusalem comes from the presence of the Lord, who has made His dwelling there. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by  *JDIS*

Fasting

*11/08/2024* *SECOND SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Genesis 4:26 Philippians 4:6-7 PRAYER IS OFTEN ACCOMPANIED BY 7. Fasting Nehemiah 1:4 Daniel 9:3 Acts 13:3 Nehemiah was deeply disturbed. Without a wall, Jerusalem was vulnerable to attack. The riches of the temple treasury (Ezra 8:15-36) would have been quite a temptation for Israel's enemies. Daniel allowed what he had heard in God's word to burden him as he turned to seek God in passionate prayer and fasting. Barnabas and Saul would have been among the prophets and teachers at Antioch, but the church did not use this as an excuse not to send them. The church was willing to obey the Lord, and therefore they fasted and prayed some more, to be sure that the Lord had spoken. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

Weeping

*07/08/2024* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Genesis 4:26 Philippians 4:6-7 PRAYER IS OFTEN ACCOMPANIED BY 5. Weeping Jeremiah 31:9 Hosea 12:4 Hosea draws a lesson from the life of Jacob, the father of the nation. Jacob's greedy, self-reliant and deceitful character was evident from birth when he grabbed the heel of his brother Esau (Genesis 25:26). The climactic event in Jacob's spiritual growth was his wrestling match with God the night before he was reunited with his brother. Jacob acknowledged his dependence on God, begged for divine favor and received a blessing (Genesis 32:24-30). Phrases from the Songs of Ascents (Psalms 120-134) are found here. In Psalms 126, those who are weeping are filled with gladness at the Lord's return of exiles from captivity. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*

Praise & Thanksgiving

*04/08/2024* *THANKSGIVING SERVICE* TOPIC: *PRAYER* Text: Genesis 4:26 Philippians 4: 6-7 PRAYER IS OFTEN ACCOMPANIED BY 4. Praise Psalms 66:17     5. Thanksgiving Philippians 4:6 Colossians 4:2 Paul encourages the Colossians to be diligent in thanksgiving and prayer. Rejoicing and gentleness are difficult during times of anxiety, and so Paul counsels the believers that they should be free from any kind of anxiety. How? By being people of prayer and presenting everything to God with thanksgiving for the Lord's mercy and forgiveness. For a Christian, God is an intimate friend and Lord who is able to help in all circumstances. *©2024* *Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp/Telegram: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#ECN Ibadan #* Powered by *JDIS*
