*Purpose and circumstances of a fast*

- we are not to exploit our workers while we fast.

Isaiah 58:3

The prophet turns his attention to those who offer false worship to the Lord. Some people seem to think that they can win favor with God by fasting and humbling themselves. They are surprised that their privations are not producing results.

*The prophet informs them that fasting is useless if it is not accompanied by abstaining from evil*
