I make no excuses. I do not try to make myself look better than I am. I tell him I have sinned. I plead for His forgiveness. I stand helpless before Him. I cannot wash myself. He gladly forgives and washes me. *By faith, I know I am a child of God* I know His promises are true. Iesous) SUB-TOPIC: *THE MESSIAH* MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH Malachi 4:5 *Elijah the prophet* The story of the prophet Elijah is found in 1 Kings 17 to 2 Kings 2. The New Testament identifies John the Baptist as this Elijah according to Matthew 11:14; 17:10; Mark 9:11-13 and Luke 1:17. There are 3 ways in which this prophecy might be fulfilled: 1. John the Baptist, whom Malachi had already prophesied (Malachi 3:1), was the first to fill the promise of the Elijah figure. *John, like Elijah, was a minister of the Lord calling people to repent and prepare for the coming of the Messiah (Matthew 11:14)* 2.
