*"Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples."*

*"And said to him, Are you the one to come, or do we look for another?*


Saint Matthew wrote his Gospel to demonstrate to his Jewish audience that *Jesus* is indeed the *long-awaited Messiah*

Who is the Messiah and why were the Jews waiting for such a person!

In Hebrew or Aramaic, the word *Messiah* means *"anointed"*.

The Greek equivalent of the word is the title *Christ*
