Beggars waited by the gates of the temple for gifts from worshippers. It was commonly supposed that sickness was a result of sin. It would follow that sins committed by parents could result in a baby being born with a disease. Jesus rejected both suggestions. *God allowed the man to be born blind so that Jesus could heal him and thus reveal the works of God, His healing power* Mixing clay and saliva was a common practice used for eye infections. Jesus Himself told John the Baptist that the proof of His messiahship was that the lame would walk according to Matthew 11:1-5, for the prophet Isaiah had predicted this long before: "The lame shall leap like a deer" Isaiah 35:1-6. Carrying a bed on the Sabbath was considered a violation of the law of Moses (John 5:10). The sick man was healed without exercising any faith. Since this beast follows Greece (Daniel 7:6), it may represent Rome (Daniel 2:40).  *12/04/2023* *MID WEEK SERVICE* THEME: *UNNAMED PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE* TOPIC: *WOMAN OF SAMARIA* Text: John 4: 1-26 The Samaritan woman did not comprehend Jesus' spiritual message. She was thinking only of physical water and could not understand how Jesus could provide water without a means of drawing it, especially since the well was deep. Jesus mentioned the woman's husband in order to expose her sin (John 4:18) Because of what Jesus told her about herself, the woman concluded that *Jesus Christ was a prophet, a person divinely inspired with supernatural knowledge* (1 Samuel 9:9) By mentioning the two different worship sites, the woman was perhaps trying to shift the conversation away from the subject of her own sins to theological questions. Or perhaps she realized that she was a sinner (John 4:18), and knew that she required to offer a sacrifice. The woman probably assumed that because Jesus was a Jew, He would insist that the sacrifice be offered in the temple at Jerusalem.

The empire is as strong as iron. Herod Antipas was technically the "tetrarch" of Galilee, but he was referred to as a King. The nobleman is said to have believed twice, once in John 4:50 and again in John 4:53. In John 4:50, he believed Jesus' promise that his son would not die. But believing that Jesus can and will heal is not enough to save. What was it that the nobleman believed in John 4:53? The explanation is found in John 4:54. The miracle that Jesus performed was His second sign (John 2:11). *These signs were performed so that people might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing they might have life (John 20:31)* When the Jewish nobleman realized that his son had been healed, he knew that Jesus was more than a mere mortal. *The nobleman placed his faith in Jesus an

It attacked the ram and broke both its horns. The prominent horn on the goat represents Alexander the Great, a great military strategist whose armies advanced swiftly. He defeated the Persians, and swept on towards India. While returning to Babylon from the east, he took ill and died in June 323 B.C. at the age of thirty two.
