Iesous) SUB-TOPIC: *THE MESSIAH* MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH Isaiah 11:11-16 *The Reign of Jesse's Offspring VII* This prophecy concerning the second Exodus (Isaiah 51:9-11) consists of the regathering of the exiles (Isaiah 11:11,12), their unity in opposition to God's enemies (Isaiah 11:13,14), and an allusion to the first Exodus to show how much greater is the second one (Isaiah 11:15,16). The second time may refer to the remnant coming back to the land in 538 B.C., in contrast to the first Exodus from Egypt. Beyond that, it could also refer to the remnant's coming to Christ in the present age (Romans 11:5), or to its future return to Christ (Romans 11:11-27) *From Assyria ...and the islands of the sea* indicates the whole earth (Isaiah 11:12). *the four corners of the earth* expression is similar to the words of Acts 1:8 "to the end of the earth".
