THE PROPHET

*28/07/2021* *MID-WEEK SERVICE* THEME: *JESUS CHRIST* TOPIC: *JESUS* (Gk. Iesous) SUB-TOPIC: *THE MESSIAH* MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH Deuteronomy 18:18 Whereas the Canaanites used a range of techniques in attempts to determine or manipulate the will of the gods, Yahweh acknowledged only one way to hear from him. That way was through the words of a prophet. Moses had been the first prophet in Israel. At Mount Horeb he had been the one to transmit Yahweh's message to the people when the people had been terrified at God's presence. But now Moses is old and about to die. To whom will the people turn to hear God's word? Moses reassures them that God will raise up a successor to him. While this reference does not necessarily exclude all the subsequent Old Testament prophets (who, like Moses, spoke on God's behalf), in the New Testament this prophecy is interpreted as referring to *Jesus*. *That is why John the Baptist (who was a prophet) denied being '

SHILOH

*25/07/2021* *ANOINTING HEALING AND COMMUNION SERVICE* THEME: *JESUS CHRIST* TOPIC: *JESUS* (Gk. Iesous) SUB-TOPIC: *THE MESSIAH* MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH Genesis 49:10 The scepter is an ornate staff or rod that is a symbol of royal authority. A lawgiver is the one who issues statutues. With these words, *Jacob predicted that a royal line would rise from Judah's descendants*. *Shiloh* is an obscure word, probably meaning the one *"To Whom It Belongs"*. That is, until the One to whom all royal authority belongs comes, the tribe of Judah will always have a lawgiver in its ranks Isaiah 9:1-6 *Shiloh*, like Seed (Genesis 3:15), is a name for the coming Messiah. *©2021* *The Ecumenican Church Nigeria ®* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#TEC#* Powered by *JDIS*

MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH

*18/07/2021* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* THEME: *JESUS CHRIST* TOPIC: *JESUS* (Gk. Iesous) SUB-TOPIC: *THE MESSIAH* MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH Genesis 12:3 *God called Abram to be the first ancestor of an entire nation*. *And this nation will be larger than Abram expects*. *Not only will he be the human ancestor of most Jews, but he will also be the spiritual ancestor of all Christians, Jews and Muslims*. *He will this be the father in the faith for a large part of humanity* The blessing of God on Abraham will consist of many strong descendants and possession of the *land* of Canaan. *Abraham would be the physical ancestor of the Jews and the spiritual father of all believers, his name will be found on the lips of many* John 8:53 Acts 7:2 Galatians 3:6-9 *All peoples on earth will be blessed through Abraham make it clear that God's blessings are not for keeping to himself but are to be used to bless others* Supremely, this will take place when his descendant who will

MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH

*14/07/2021* *MID-WEEK SERVICE* THEME: *JESUS CHRIST* TOPIC: *JESUS* (Gk. Iesous) SUB-TOPIC: *THE MESSIAH* MAJOR OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH Genesis 3:15 The term *seed* is exceedingly important. It may be translated *offspring* (Genesis 15:3) or descendants (Genesis 15:5,13,18). The term may refer to an individual (Galatians 3:16) or a group of people. This means, among other things, that Eve would live - at least for a while. *The Seed of the woman is the Promised One, the coming Messiah of Israel* Seed continues to be used throughout the Bible as a messianic term (Numbers 24:7; Isaiah 6:13). *The promised Coming One is the Lord Jesus, the Messiah* *Copyright 2021* *The Ecumenican Church Nigeria* Instagram: *@ecumenicanchurch* WhatsApp: *+2348052366039* Email: *johnifesanya@gmail.com* *www.johnifesanya.blogspot.com* *#TEC#* Powered by *JDIS*

CHRIST AND HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE PART SEVEN

*11/07/2021* *SECOND SUNDAY SERVICE* SERMON: *CHRIST AND HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE PART SEVEN* Text: 1 Peter 2:4-12 (NKJV) Topic verse: *"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light"* 1 Peter 2:9 Peter's words reveal the two interwoven functions of the church: *to declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness and into this wonderful light*. The church is to offer worship to God and to witness to humanity. Despite being 'a chosen people' and 'a holy nation', believers may have problems in this world, where they do not belong but are merely aliens and strangers. Strangers are often treated with hostility, and so they need to live lives that will deflect hostile attacks by making outsiders recognize that what the Christians are doing is actually good. Such recognition will bring praise to God. *Copyright 2021* *

CHRIST AND HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE PART SIX

*07/07/2021* *MID-WEEK SERVICE* SERMON: *CHRIST AND HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE PART SIX* Text: 1 Peter 2:4-12 (NKJV) Topic verse: *"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light"* 1 Peter 2:9 Although we once deserved condemnation because of unbelief John 3:18,36 Ephesians 2:1-3 We no longer are under the sentence of judgment Ephesians 2:4-7 Peter reminds believers 1 Peter 1:1 that this earth is not our home. We are foreigners here, traveling to our eternal home, heaven. The word translated *abstain* literally means "to hold away from one's person". In other words, we must distance ourselves from our own self-indulgent urges. *Life is not a game but a war to be waged, and that war is a matter of eternal life or death.* Romans 7:23 James 4:1 *Yet the war is not necessarily fought on a physical, temporal plane, but on a spiritual o

CHRIST AND HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE PART FIVE

*04/07/2021* *THANKSGIVING SERVICE* SERMON: *CHRIST AND HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE PART FIVE* Text: 1 Peter 2:4-12 (NKJV) Topic verse: *"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light"* 1 Peter 2:9 There is a direct contrast between those who believe in Jesus Christ and those who do not. God has not left to chance who will be part of a unique body of people, a group who will serve Him. He has reserved that decision for Himself. Believers are transformed not only internally, as being made into "a holy priesthood", but also externally. We are a priesthood that functions in a ruling capacity, as Kings. *Believers are a unified group of people who are set apart for God's use*. God protects those whom He has adopted into His family. *Tithes & Offering* Genesis 14:18-20 Account name: The Ecumenican Church Account number: 2280020397
