We ask with selfish motives  James 4:3 Some might have protested James admonition (James 4:1,2) by claiming that they had not received an answer to their prayers (Matthew 7:7). James responds by suggesting that they were praying for the wrong things. Instead of praying for their sinful desires, they should have been praying for God's good will for them. *Often the reason God does not supply what a person desires is simply that He knows it would not benefit that person* (Philippians 4:19). God is not obliged to answer our prayers in the affirmative. *He will not act in ways that are contrary to His will, even if He is besieged by fervent prayers* Anytime we seek to further our personal pleasures through prayer, we are asking amiss (Matthew 6:33). *In prayer, God does not bow to our will, instead we submit to His good will for our lives* *©2024* *Ecu

James 4:2 The conflicts are rooted in the envy in their own hearts and their behavior is self-centered. They think only of themselves. This selfishness is why they neither have or receive blessing. These conflicts can take dramatic form. Jeremiah 33:3 Ephesians 3:20 The Lord invites Jeremiah to call on him, as he is ready to reveal wonderful things that the prophet cannot find out in any other way. Luke 18:7 1 Kings 18:42-44 Daniel 10:12,13 God will respond to injustice and religious persecution meted out to His people. *In the end*, He will avenge. Elijah had faith that God would hear his prayers again. So he put his face between his knees and requested rain on the land to prove conclusively that it was God and not Baal who controlled the rain and that it was not Asherah who was in charge of the fertility of the land. Elijah's prayer of faith was heard and granted by the Lord.
