John 1:1-3 The gospel begins by speaking of someone referred to as *the Word* John 1:1,14. In Jewish thought, the Word of God was the way God communicated himself. In Greek thought, *the Word* was the central idea that holds the universe together. Because God gives life to everything, sustains everything and determines the purpose of everything, he deserves to be forever glorified. God is the source, means and end of all things. He is the Creator, Sustainer and the goal of everything. He is the good God who does all things for good  Mark 10:18 Romans 8:28 The problem of evil comes after this creation period.  *20/07/2025* *THIRD SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CREATION  - God can (and will) remake everything II Isaiah 65:17 Revelation 21:1 A new heaven and a new earth now appear on stage  Revelation 21:1 Isaiah 65:17; 66:22 Creation is being renewed. As the apocalyptic drama nears its end, all evil has been destroyed according to Revelation 17:1-20:15.  *16/07/2025* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CREATION  - God can (and will) remake everything  Isaiah 65:17 Revelation 21:1 For his chosen ones, the Lord creates *new heavens and a new earth* Isaiah 65:17 2 Peter 3:13 Revelation 21:1 This prophecy should be viewed in conjunction with Isaiah 24, where God announced the destruction of the earth and the darkening of the heavenly bodies. It seems that this new creation is highly symbolic. The destruction of the earth and the hiding of the heavenly bodies represent the end of evil and of all objects of idolatry (for the sun and moon were worshipped in those times).  *13/07/2025* *SECOND SUNDAY SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* CREATION  - God created the universe from nothing II Genesis 1:1 Isaiah 45:5 Amos 5:8 The oppressors may feel free to throw out God's standards, but God reminds them of who he is. His power is so great that he controls the seasons (symbolized by the stars in the constellations of Orion and the Pleiades) and the coming of day and night (Amos 5:8a). First, he identifies himself as the Creator, using language similar to that found in Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 2:7, and specifies that it is he who directs his servant. The Lord God introduces Himself as the source of all physical and spiritual life - *breath* and *spirit*- for He will enable the Servant to free people from death and spiritual darkness. He is the good God who does all things for good according to Mark 10:18 and Roman 8:28. God may have viewed his creation as good because it breathed order. Each element was created at the appropriate time and occupied the place which allowed for the harmony of the whole. It was also filled with rich diversity. God created different species within each vegetable and animal family, each according to their kinds.  *02/07/2025* *MID WEEK SERVICE* TOPIC: *WHAT DOES GOD DO?* INTRODUCTION  - The creation of the earth and the near heavens IX Genesis 1:1-31 Both men and women were blessed by God and assigned a two-fold mission: to increase in number and fill the earth according to Genesis 1:28a and to rule over creation and to subdue the earth according to Genesis 1:26c,28b. This mission was not a heavy burden but a gift from God. Human beings were to occupy and enjoy, not fear, creation.
